In her short Hollywood career (five years, a mere 11 movies), Grace Kelly became the archetype of the Blonde Who Will Melt
Her ice sheen, most glittering in Hitchcock's "Rear Window" and "To Catch a Thief" (pictured), is not a glacier but a glaze. The hint is in the hair itself - the dark roots are the clue that her cool protects a hidden warmth. She looks as if she's humming "One Day My Prince Will Come": come he did, and Grace became a fairy-tale princess in a fairy tale kingdom The fairy tale ended in horror, a car tumbling over the edge of the most beautiful road in France.
